Go digital before December 2025: send us your account number and contact details
08 June 2025
The City of Cape Town urges all residents to make the switch to emailed accounts before 31 December 2025. It's quick, easy and more than 460 000 fellow Capetonians have already made the move. You are encouraged to send your account number and contact details now to get your account straight to your inbox.
‘We are making good progress to reduce the number of both residential and commercial accounts which we print and send via the South African Postal Service. All you must do is send an email or SMS with both your account number and email address to request an emailed account before 31 December 2025.
‘As a caring city, the City will ensure that all account holders with no email access will still receive assistance. They are advised to contact the City’s Call Centre so we know about them and can assist them. Emailed accounts make it simple for account holders to keep track of their bills and use the accounts for proof of residence. Saving on printing and postage costs contributes to a more financially and environmentally sustainable organisation. Avoid the last-minute rush, switch to eBilling now and help build a cleaner, greener, and more efficient city,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Councillor Siseko Mbandezi.
Why go digital?
· Improved efficiency: customers can pay their accounts as soon as they are able to
· Reduced errors: customers are able to better track their payments
· Easily accessible for proof of residence as needed
· Reduced environmental impact: reducing paper waste benefits our environment and City
· Reduced costs: eliminates the need for paper and postal delivery costs
Here's how to make the switch:
For emailed bills, simply send an email or SMS with your account number and email address
